How to Prevent Swimmer's Ear

A few straightforward precautions can combat the excessive moisture that causes bacteria to fester. To complete this How-To you will require: Ear drops A towel or a blow dryer Step 1: Do not over-clean the inside of your ears. Earwax is nature's way of protecting your ears removing it can make you a lot more vulnerable to infections. Tip: By no means put cotton swabs, your fingers, or anything else into your ear canal. You can scratch or tear the skin, permitting bacteria to enter. Step 2: Prior to and after swimming, use over-the-counter swimmer's eardrops. They support avoid the bacterial and fungal growth. Hold your head still for 30 seconds, and then tilt your head sideways to let the liquid flow out. Or make your own drops by combining equal parts white vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Warning: Don't use eardrops if you already have swimmer's ear or it will make it worse. Step three: Dry your ears as soon as you get out of the water by wiping the outer ear with a towel and then shaking the water out of your ear canals by tilting your head from side to side.   5. step 1: well don't push the ear cleaner thing ( forget what it's called ) too far down your ear, when you clean it, you're only supposed to the front part of your ear, not waaaay down farther

  8. My uncle worrks with someone who getys this all the time, don't do this bull, use a swimmers ear candle, the heat go's into your ear and gets all the water out, and it doesent hurt!

  12. it can be from the ocean too but it was this particular pool i have never been to before gave me a nasty swimmers ear. So i was just making an educated guess :P but yeah if water stays in ur ear to long it can cause this. But i have been having minor chronic infections that seemed to go away but this one definately tops the chart ha ha :]

  14. lucky BASTARD!!!! it hurts like a bitch. I have it [been swimming since i was a baby too :P] I'm on swim team and we just did championships and i got it right after that. Damn nasty pool water. Now i have to take drops and antibiotics.

  19. no its an infection in the ear from dirty pool water. it hurts alot like a massive head ache and especially when you sneeze, cough, or even touch in side your ear. i got it once and i fixed it 2 days later with a q tip soaked in pure alcohol :P
